Wang Wei Biography - Chinese poet during the Tang Dynasty

Wang Wei, also known as Wei Wang, was a prominent poet during the Tang dynasty in China. He was born in 701 AD in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi province. Although his family was not wealthy, Wang Wei was able to receive a good education and was well-versed in classical Chinese literature and poetry.

Wang Wei’s poetry was greatly influenced by Taoism, which emphasized the importance of living a simple and natural life. His poems often depicted the beauty of nature, and he was known for his ability to evoke strong emotions through his descriptions of the landscape. Despite his popularity and artistic achievements, Wang Wei lived a humble and modest life. He never sought fame or fortune, and he remained dedicated to his art until his death in 761 AD.
