End of the Year: Three Poems:No. 2
(2) Bie Sui:San Shou
Gu ren shi qian li
Lin bie shang chi chi.
Ren xing you ke fu
Sui xing na ke zhui.
Wen sui an suo zhi
Yuan zai tian yi ya.
Yi zhu dong liu shui
Fu hai gui wu shi.
Dong lin jiu chu shu
Xi she zhi yi fei.
Qie wei yi ri huan
Wei ci qiong nian bei
Wu jie jiu sui bie.
Xing you xin sui ci
Qu qu wu hui gu
Huan jun lao you shuai.
End of the Year: Three Poems: No. 2
Farewell to the Old Year
Old friends hundreds of miles away
Our leave takings so valuable, I tend to delay and drag them out.
The people traveling away usually can return
The years of traveling away can be recalled.
Ask where have these years gone
They are far away at the sky’s margin.
Like the waters all flowing to the east
Headed for the ocean, never to return.
Neighbors to the east beginning to make wine
Those to the west with fat pigs share with me.
For now, today is a happy day
This consoles my end of the year poverty and sorrow.
No need to lament the past, departed years
This new year will pass by quickly enough.
Do not need to turn around to examine what was left
With every year, we get older and older.
